Not only was 12-year-old Gazan Muhammad al-Dura not killed by IDF fire in 2000 – he was not even hurt.

That was the preliminary finding of a special commit- tee formed several years ago by Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon and headed by Brig.- Gen. (res.) Yossi Kuperwasser, the former head of the Research and Analysis Division of the IDF Military Intelligence Directorate, and the current director-general of the Strategic Affairs Ministry.

Dura was allegedly killed by IDF fire during the second intifada as he crouched behind his father, Jamal, crying. He became the most potent symbol of the Palestinian struggle; his name can still be heard around the world as a symbol of the Palestinian struggle.

At first, Israel did not deny that its forces had hit Dura, who had been caught in the crossfire between Palestinian and IDF forces at the Netzarim junction on September 30, 2000. The IDF admitted that it had hit and killed the boy. Following an investigation, however, the official army version changed: the IDF did not actually hit the boy.

But it was too late – the narrative had already gone viral.

Specifically, according to the complaint, on April 4 , 2013, the Davis Odd Fellows, Soroptimist International of Davis, and Davis Rebekah Lodge were duly served with a request for production of the three latest IRS Form 990, Form 990 Schedule A, as well as Form 1023.

Said requests were emailed to Mrs. Lea Rosenberg (wife of David Rosenberg aka Dave Rosenberg), and included a proviso by which the undersigned offered to pay for reasonable costs for any copying and mailing costs incurred in relation to this request.

To date, no responses have been received to this request to produce the tax returns, despite the clear mandate by the Internal Revenue Service to fully comply with such requests within 30 days.

As such, reluctantly, the undersigned made this referral based on grave concerns dealing with suspicious circumstances surrounding Davis Odd Fellows’ board of directors (see http://davislodge.org/odd-fellows-hall-board/ ), President – Dave Rosenberg ,Vice President – Dave Reed, Treasurer – Barb Geisler, Secretary – Lea Rosenberg, as well as other non-profit entities controlled by Lea and David Rosenberg to wit, Soroptimist International of Davis, Davis Rebekah Lodge, Davis Sunrise Rotary Club , and the newly form non-profit entity Davis Odd Fellows Charities, Inc./Orphan Scholarship Fund.

More specifically, the concern relates to the fact that in recent years almost all the non profits entities controlled by Lea and Dave Rosenberg began to almost exclusively raise funds for “foster youth” and/or “emancipated foster youth” in Yolo County. For example, Davis Odd Fellows held an event to benefit foster youth known as ” Breakfast with Santa”. Soroptimist International of Davis held an event to benefit foster youth known as “Texas Hold ‘Em”. Davis Rebekah Lodge held an event to benefit foster youth known as “Crab Feed.”

As mentioned above, In addition to “Breakfast with Santa”, Davis Odd Fellows recently launched an ad hoc non-profit to benefit foster youth known as Davis Odd Fellows Charities, Inc./Orphan Scholarship Fund.

While certainly the cause of supporting orphans and foster youth is worthy of praise, grave concerns exist that under the auspices of helping foster youth, money is instead actually laundered and being used for improper purposes, including , but not limited, to bribing or attempting to gain the favor of the ex-foreperson of Yolo County’s Grand Jury (Barbara Sommer) who, coincidentally  also heads a non-profit entity designated to house “foster youth” and/or “emancipated foster youth” known as Progress Ranch.

Additional facts that raise suspicions are that both Dave Rosenberg and Dave Reed are judges of Yolo County Superior Court; Dave Rosenberg is a close confederate of an attorney (Howard Dickstein) who represents an Indian Casino located in Yolo County (Cache Creek Casino); Cache Creek Casino also recently developed an unexplained desire to benefit “foster youth” through a huge donation to benefit “foster youth”; and that in recent years Yolo County’s Grand Jury (headed by Barbara Sommer of Progress Ranch) was investigating Cache Creek Casino.

Capitol Hill aides spent their Memorial Day weekend scanning hundreds of pages of documents related to the IRS scandal in order to prepare their bosses for what will inevitably be a frantic month of June involving multiple simultaneous investigations into government wrongdoing. By the time lawmakers return to session next week, at least four different investigations will be underway.

As The Daily Caller has reported, at least five different IRS offices including Cincinnati, Ohio; Baltimore, Maryland; Chicago, Illinois and El Monte and Laguna Niguel, California improperly targeted conservative nonprofit groups for extra scrutiny between 2010 and 2012.

The IRS’ shenanigans, chronicled in a damning report by Treasury Inspector General J. Russell George, started when a “team of [IRS] specialists” came together in April 2010 to process the tax-exempt nonprofit status of conservative groups that might be “potential political operations” (page 13 of the IG report). The IRS added “additional specialists” to this effort in December 2011.

An Impressive History is claimed by the Odd Fellows Homes of California dating back to 1893 when provisions were made for the establishment of the first Odd Fellows Home in California. That first Home was located at Thermalito, Butte County, three miles from Oroville. The move from Thermalito to a new Odd Fellows Home in Saratoga, Santa Clara County, occurred on November 18, 1912. Michael Douglas, who is now in remission from stage four throat cancer that was diagnosed three years ago, says that his life-threatening disease came from giving oral sex, rather than a lifetime of drinking and smoking.

The actor, 68, told UK’s The Guardian that his cancer was the result of contracting the human papillomavirus, a sexually transmitted disease that can cause cancer.

The paper asked Douglas if he regretted his years of boozing and smoking and he said, “No. Because without wanting to get too specific, this particular cancer is caused by HPV, which actually comes about from cunnilingus.” (Cunnilingus, for those of you who did not pay attention in sex ed, is when a man performs oral sex on a woman.)

He added, “I did worry if the stress caused by my son’s incarceration didn’t help trigger it. But yeah, it’s a sexually transmitted disease that causes cancer. And if you have it, cunnilingus is also the best cure for it.” Douglas’ son Cameron, 35, is currently serving a 10 year prison sentence for heroin possession.

Conrad Black’s back — and he doesn’t love America so much anymore.

Black, the former CEO of Hollinger International who controlled such publications as the Chicago Sun-Times, the Jerusalem Post and the U.K.’s Daily Telegraph, was convicted in the U.S. in 2007 of fraud and obstruction of justice. Though he appealed his case all the way to the Supreme Court (which threw out two of his four convictions), Black spent three years in prison before being released in 2012.

The 68-year-old one-time champion of America doesn’t see the country — and its justice system — as so outstanding any longer.

“[M]y affection for the country has been seriously eroded and I consider the justice system to be a teeming anthill of corruption, and hypocrisy, a disgrace made more abominable by the complacency of most Americans about it,” Black, who maintains his innocence and lives in Canada, told The Daily Caller in an email.

“The U.S. has 5% of the world’s population, 25% of its incarcerated people, and 50% of its lawyers, who consume almost 10% of GDP. It convicts 99.5% of its accused people, (compared to 61% in Canada and 55% in the UK),; has six to twelve times as many incarcerated people per capita as Australia, Canada, France/Germany, Great Britain, and Japan, and 48 million people with a criminal record. Even deducting those convicted of non-stigmatizing offenses such as DUI or disorderly behavior many years before, it still means that over 15% of American adults are officially felons. This is an atrocity.”

According to the most recent U.S. Attorneys statistical report [pdf], the actual federal conviction rate in 2010 was 93%, not quite the 99.5% Black claimed. The rate is much lower in state courts.

Despite his disappointment with the U.S, Black is out with a glowing portrait of America’s rise to world preeminence,  ”Flight of the Eagle: The Grand Strategies that Brought America from Colonial Dependence to World Leadership.”

“The advance of the U.S. in less than two centuries, two long lifetimes, from colonial status to a position of pre-eminence in the world beyond anything ever attained by any other country was, of course, partly the result of the good fortune of the English language, Common Law, democratic tradition and access to a vast rich continent,” he told TheDC.

But, he added, America’s rise “was also largely the result of actions of courage, genius, and innovation by fewer than 20 American statesmen and military commanders at the most critical points in the country’s history, according to carefully developed strategic designs.”

Black says the most interesting thing he discovered in his research was the “extent to which the Revolutionary War was a dispute about taxes rather than rights, and how brilliantly [Thomas] Jefferson and others presented it as the dawn of human liberty, when it had little effect on the rights of anyone, including Americans themselves, other than that their government was thereafter resident in the U.S.”

“The Americans and British citizens had approximately equal civil rights (except for slaves of course, who scarcely existed in Britain), before the war, and after the war, and with each other throughout,” he explained.

Luis Rodriguez is poised to become the State Bar’s next president by virtue of being the only trustee seeking that office in the July election.

Rodriguez

Rodriguez left unspoken the fact that he would be the State Bar’s first Latino president, talking instead of being the first public defender to hold the position. And, he joked after scanning a wall filled with photos of past leaders, the first with a goatee.

“It means a lot to me that this happened for so many reasons,” Rodriguez said at the May 10 Board of Trustees meeting after CEO Joseph Dunn announced that Rodriguez would be running unopposed. “It’s a great opportunity.”

Senator Chuck Grassley says that despite President Obama’s reported outreach to Republicans, the president hasn’t called the Iowa senator since 2009.

“During that period of time, the president would call me on my cellphone and talk to me. I don’t know if it was a half a dozen times or a dozen times, but enough so you remember he called you,” Grassley said in an interview with The Hill.

Senator Grassley has jurisdiction over two of the President’s top legislative priorities: gun violence and immigration reform.

Although Grassley hasn’t heard from the president, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters Tuesday that Obama has been actively reaching out to Republicans to push for immigration legislation.

Long-time Davis Odd Fellow Dave Rosenberg has been elected Grand Warden of the Grand Lodge of California, Independent Order of Odd Fellows.

The election was held last Friday during Grand Lodge Sessions in Sacramento, with representatives from over 120 Odd fellows Lodges from throughout California.

Four candidates vied for the office and Rosenberg was elected on the first ballot. Grand Warden is the No. 3 position in Odd Fellow leadership, serving a one-year term, and then moving up to Deputy Grand Master, and then Grand Master of California.

Rosenberg served four terms as Noble Grand (President) of the Davis Odd Fellows Lodge and is generally credited with rebuilding that Lodge to be one of the premier Odd Fellows Lodges in the country. Rosenberg also serves as Chief Patriarch of the Davis Encampment, as Captain of the Davis Canton, as Secretary of the Davis Rebekah Lodge, and as President of the Hall Board Association. He has previously served as a District Deputy Grand Master for the Odd Fellows and as Chair of the Grand Lodge Judiciary Committee. Rosenberg also served two terms as Chairman of the Odd Fellows Homes of California Board of Directors, which operates two large retirement campuses in Napa and in Saratoga. Locally, Rosenberg continues to serve as Chair of the Membership & Initiation Committee of the Davis Lodge and serves as a member of the Good Fellowship Committee and the Bingo Committee.

Obama’s second term is shaping up to be a disaster

The last few weeks have been among the worst of Barack Obama’s time in office, recalling earlier periods of turmoil for the president in 2010 and 2011, when his ratings also plummeted. In 2013, the situation is significantly worse for the White House, with the Obama administration engulfed in a series of major scandals (IRS persecution of conservative groups, the Benghazi debacle, and the Justice Department seizure of journalists’ phone records) that are not only eroding trust in government but also in the office of the president itself. This is undoubtedly a period of steep decline for the Obama presidency, whose imperial-style big government approach is being increasingly questioned not only by American voters, but also by formerly subservient sections of the liberal-dominated mainstream media. In contrast to his first term, Barack Obama is finding himself less and less shielded by the press, and far more vulnerable to public criticism.

With good reason, Americans don’t feel optimistic about their country’s future with President Obama at the helm. According to the RealClear Politics polling average, less than one in three Americans believe the United States is heading in the right direction. A new Economist/YouGov poll has the president’s job approval rating at just 46 percent, with 49 percent of Americans disapproving. Strikingly, 35 percent of Americans “strongly disapprove” of the president’s job performance, 15 points higher than the number who “strongly approve.” A mere 31 percent of Americans surveyed by YouGov believe the United States is “generally headed in the right direction.”

In addition to damaging scandals, which have raised major questions over the integrity and judgment of the Obama administration, there remain deep-seated concerns over the US economy and the enormous national debt, widespread opposition to the president’s health care reforms, and significant fears over national security. Barack Obama’s second term could not have started more badly for the “hope and change” president, who, with three and a half years in office remaining, looks more and more like a lame duck. Here are ten key reasons why the Obama presidency is in trouble, with the outlook exceedingly grim for the White House.

1. The American public is losing trust in Obama

A recent Quinnipiac survey found that less than half of Americans (49 percent) now view their president as “honest and trustworthy.” According to Quinnipiac, the series of recent scandals have begun to significantly dent the president’s standing with the American people, with his approval rating standing at just 45 percent. The IRS targeting of conservative groups has been particularly damaging, with 76 percent of voters supporting the appointment of a special prosecutor to investigate the scandal, and a series of Congressional hearings putting the Obama administration on the spot. Another survey, by NBC News/The Wall Street Journal, reveals a great deal of public concern over the “overall honesty and integrity of the Obama administration,” with more than half of Americans agreeing that recent scandals have “raised doubts” about the government’s trustworthiness. 41 percent of Americans believe that President Obama himself is “totally” or “mainly” responsible for the government’s handling of Benghazi – just 19 percent believe he bears no responsibility. On the IRS issue, only 24 percent say the president is not responsible in any way, while a third of Americans think he is largely culpable.

2. The Obama presidency is imperial in style and outlook

Leading conservative talk radio host Mark Levin was absolutely right when he blasted Barack Obama on Fox News back in January as “an imperial president.” It would be hard to find a US president in recent times who has behaved in a more arrogant fashion than President Obama, and that includes Richard Nixon. The Obama White House is routinely disdainful of criticism, sneeringly dismissive of Congressional opposition, nasty and brutish towards dissenting voices in the media, and completely lacking in humility. Even veteran reporters such as Bob Woodward, one of two journalists who broke the Watergate scandal, have found themselves on the sharp end of the White House’s boot after publishing unflattering stories. Woodward was warned earlier this year by a senior White House official that he would “regret” his remarks about the president’s handling of the sequester issue. At the same time the Obama presidency exudes a shameless “let them eat cake” mentality, abundantly on display with the president’s lavish vacations and golfing expeditions while millions of American families have struggled to pay their mortgage and stay afloat against the backdrop in recent years of the biggest economic downturn since the Great Depression.

Eric Holder’s interview with Pete Williams of NBC News is, as John says, a classic. It seems to me that Holder’s statements during the interview nail down the case that he lied to Congress or to a court.

According to NBC’s account of the interview [note that NBC's written account does not appear to track word-for-word the video of the interview NBC posted along with its account], Holder said:

I don’t like [using the term “co-conspirator” to describe reporters] because it means that me as a government official, and who has great respect for the press, is in essence saying that the reporter who is doing his or her job, and doing that very important job, is somehow branded a criminal.

So Holder admits that he branded Fox News’ James Rosen a criminal.

I understand Orin Kerr’s argument that deeming someone a criminal isn’t the same thing as deciding to prosecute that individual. But I think it’s dishonest to say (as Holder, in effect, said to Congress) that there was no potential for the prosecution of someone the Department of Justice had branded a criminal and whom it was investigating.

I agree with Bill Otis that “the outcome of an investigation conducted with even minimal integrity depends, not on pre-existing personal or political inclinations, but on what the evidence turns up.” Thus, “every serious investigation. . .holds in it. . .a potential prosecution” of those being investigated.

“Even the ACLU is shocked” by the Obama administration’s secret grab of phone records of millions of Americans, says talk-radio host Michael Savage.

He noted on his nationally syndicated show Friday night that while Obama has characterized the government’s access to the data as a “modest encroachment” on privacy, an ACLU senior policy analyst called it a “gross privacy invasion.”

Recalling the warnings in his “Beware the Government-Media Complex” speech to the Commonwealth Club of California in 2000, Savage told his listeners the NSA’s snooping is “the biggest scandal of your entire life.”

Business lobbyists seek narrow legislation on behalf of clients. Certain lawmakers dutifully agree. The interests dole out donations. It’s perfectly legal.

Not much has changed from the mid-1980s when FBI agents posing as businessmen from the South sponsored a phony bill to create a fictional shrimp processing plant, and used money as bait.

A report alleges the State Department nixed several internal probes into possible sexual assault, prostitution and drugs.

State Department brass quashed several internal probes into possible sexual assaults, prostitution solicitation and drug dealing by diplomatic personnel overseas, according to a bombshell broadcast report today.

Internal memos by the department’s internal watchdog, the Inspector General, showed there were open investigations last year of several state employees – including an ambassador suspected of trolling a park for prostitutes — that simply went away, allegedly because of pressure from high-ranking State Department officials, CBS News reported.

Memos showed that probes included allegations of:

- An ambassador who “routinely ditched his protective security detail … to solicit sexual favors from … prostitutes” in parks.

- The security detail of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had “engaged prostitutes while on official trips in foreign countries” in a practice that is “endemic.”

As the Supreme Court prepares to once again weigh in on the issue of affirmative action, a record-low number of Americans support such programs, according to the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

Just 45 percent of respondents said they believe affirmative action programs are still needed to counteract the effects of discrimination against minorities, while an equal 45 percent feel the programs have gone too far and should be ended because they unfairly discriminate against whites.
